Bellevue, United States - April 17, 2018 /PressCable/ —

Jason Matias, a fine art photographer hailing from Bellevue, WA is debuting his art nude series for the first time at Art Expo New York. His gallery, just outside of Seattle, traditionally shows hyperreal landscape photo art. But Jason has been holding something back. Something he says he’s been too afraid to share with his audience because it is so far afield of his traditional work.

“Jason‘s nudes are striking in both composition and color theory,” says Suzie Rigby, a lifestyle designer and Art Representative from Northern California. “When he first showed them to me they took my breath away. He is a rare artist in that he excels at both landscape art and figure arts. He’s a crossover artist. Most artists succeed in one study or the other.”

Founder and Artistic Director of Arte Collective, Yubal Márquez Fleites, will be curating Jason’s work, who’s style and intriguing composition was particularly selected for this the 40th Anniversary of ArtExpo New York. Matia’s work will be on view at Arte Collective Booth 345, starting on Thursday, April 19th at 12:00pm until Sunday, April 22nd at 6:00pm in the Pier 92/94 Complex in New York City. Over 40,000 art enthusiasts from around the globe are expected to attend this year.

While the works are technically “nude”, they are not entirely revealing, embracing and at the same time allowing for the natural mystics of the female form to be appreciated.

The blue work is titled Aria. An aria being a musical score performed by a single vocalist. Think: opera. The second piece on display is “Left Alone,” also named after a solo bit of jazz written and performed by Archie Shepp, said Matias. The pieces remind Matias of the intangible moment between notes in a beautiful score. “In my mind, the moments are fluid, moving imperceptibly but undeniably. Like a moment between notes; empty but filled with expectation.”

Matias said he wanted to focus on anonymity, geometry, and abstraction in the works. The abstracted squares, some obvious and others more subtle are not randomly placed throughout the image. They are placed on a fibonacci curve that spirals from the focal point of each photograph. Each square resides on a fractal of the ubiquitous pattern. In “Left Alone, he adds strong geometrical compositional elements. Triangles and angles lead the eye all across the image in a dance as beautiful as the image itself. The works certainly seem stand-out and are one of a kind to us. Both works are showing at full size- a whopping six feet tall.

The art expo will be full of must see works. If you can make it, be sure to stop by Arte Collective both 345. There will be a Meet & Greet on Thursday, April 19th at 4PM where you can meet the artist firsthand and talk about his creations. If you can’t, you can view these incredible works on in the Nude Collection at Jason Matias Fine Art. You’ll want to see it on a big screen. The nudes are each limited editions of 15 pieces only.

EU warns Italy on budget but walks a fine line

Oct 19, 2018

BRUSSELS — The European Union handed Italy a stinging letter Thursday warning that the nation's significantly higher deficit targets represented a deviation "unprecedented in the history" of EU budget rules — but still offered reassurances that the bloc was "not an adversary of Italy." The dual message underlines the EU's balancing act as it tries to prod Italy's new populist government back into compliance with EU financial standards without enflaming the anti-Europe rhetoric that is coursing inside Italy. Italy has until Monday to respond to the letter, which is likely to set off a back-and-forth that will go on for...

Cyprus airline Cobalt halts flights amid lack of investment

Oct 19, 2018

NICOSIA, Cyprus — Cyprus-based airline Cobalt Air suspended its operations indefinitely after failing to find new investors to keep it in flight, officials said Thursday. As stranded passengers scrambled to find alternate flights, Cyprus' government said it would compensate Cobalt Air ticketholders who end up with other carriers to get to and from the Mediterranean island. The Cypriot transport ministry said in a statement that passengers would be compensated for one-way, economy class tickets on other carriers up until Oct. 24. Cypriot travel agencies Orthodoxou Travel and Top Kinisis were authorized to book return flights. "We feel the need to...

The Latest: EU voices concerns over Italy's budget deficit

Oct 19, 2018

BRUSSELS — The Latest on Italy's plans to ramp up public spending (all times local): 7:45 p.m. The European Commission has chastised Italy for a spending plan that will raise its deficit to three times that which was previously agreed, calling the deviation "unprecedented in the history" of the EU's stability and growth compact. EU budget chief Pierre Moscovici delivered the letter Thursday to Economic Minister Giovanni Tria in Rome. The letter said a spending increase and a resulting deficit of 2.4 percent of GDP will make it unlikely that Italy will be able to reduce its public debt, now...

EU looks to African nations, border control to stop migrants

Oct 19, 2018

BRUSSELS — European Union leaders agreed Thursday to pursue the cooperation of countries in North Africa and to beef up the bloc's external borders to stop large numbers of migrants from entering Europe. A statement from an EU summit in Brussels where the leaders of member countries discussed migration emphasized the need to work with the countries that Europe-bound migrants depart from or travel through. Working with those countries on "investigating, apprehending and prosecuting" smugglers and traffickers that take refugees and economic migrants on dangerous journeys by land and sea should be intensified," the leaders said. Well over 1 million...

European and Asian leaders to boost ties, trade, security

Oct 19, 2018

BRUSSELS — After failing to reach a breakthrough on Britain's divorce terms from the European Union, EU leaders are rolling straight into another summit Thursday, this one aimed at forging closer links with Asia. The Asia-Europe meeting that starts Thursday night with a dinner attended by Belgian King Philippe will bring together 30 European leaders with their counterparts from 21 Asian nations, a membership that accounts for 55 percent of global trade. The meeting with the slogan, "Global Partners for Global Challenges" is happening amid a trade war between the United States and China and ongoing trade tensions between the...
